Ease The Stress Of Moving Day

Moving day is always very hectic, and may make all of your planning and preparations seem wasted. But it may have been an even larger issue without the work done ahead of time. Moving can go smoother and with less anxiety with the use of checklists and packing ahead of time.

Items may have sentimental value or be fragile and treated differently than your other belongings. You may, to make yourself feel more comfortable and your items safer, decide to transport them in your own vehicle. Your son’s left handed electric guitar, a cherished keepsake or a delicate vase will be better off in your care, and you can move them to an out of the way area at the new house to keep them safer during the moving process.

On arrival at your new house be sure to try and put boxes in the rooms where they will be unpacked to save extra effort moving them around afterwards. However there are always some good exceptions, perhaps things that will not be needed or unpacked immediately can go in the home office storage areas to keep them out of the way.

The use of checklists that were made ahead of time can help determine what to pack and what not to pack. Packing your child’s eddie bauer convertible car seat by accident can be a major headache if the truck has left with it and you need it to transport your child. Also, you may use old pillows and blankets to protect furniture during the move instead of packing them away.

Tips from the movers can be very helpful, however you may want to get help before their moving crews arrive, enlist friends and family to help organize and clean to make moving day less hectic. Cleaning the furniture before the move will make it easier at your destination.

Downsizing before you move to eliminate items you may no longer need or want is wise before moving. If you plan to move in a short while it may be wise to get rid of things you no longer use or are holding onto for no reason. This will make moving day easier on you and save you some unnecessary stress, eliminating the need to find a place for ‘that old thing’ in your new abode.

Another recommendation is to treat your movers well, while they will not cause any harm on purpose they may work a bit harder after a quick snack or refreshment. If the weather is hot or cold they may be able to complete the job quicker with a short break with an appropriate snack or beverage.
